Bedroom Makeover and Some Cooking Success!

For those of you who know me, you know that I haven't quite mastered the whole cooking thing yet. I depend on Pinterest for good recipes and have not had the best luck in succeeding. This week I think I finally did it! I made Chicken Enchilada Pasta and it actually turned out looking like the picture. Just to prove it to you, I took a picture :)

My Picture

Bravo, Kasey! :)

In other news, we are STILL working on our bedroom. Here is a picture of the current "situation".

Looks fun, huh?

We are hopefully texturing and priming walls this weekend. I am waiting to get paint until I get the new bedding, but I am having problems deciding on what I want. This is the flavor of the week for now:

I am also LOVING the price! :)

Anchors Aweigh Coop!

My little brother, Cooper, was officially sworn into the United States Navy this week. We said good-bye on Sunday and he left for boot camp on Monday. My parents heard from him Monday night and said they could hear the anxiety in his voice! I have been praying for him all week and ask that you do the same! I am so blessed and honored to have brothers who chose to devote their lives to keeping us safe! Here are some pictures from the send-off.

It is hard to say good-bye!

Py and I with the soon-to-be Navy Seaman!

We are so proud of you Cooper and pray for you daily! Good luck in all that you do! :)

Oh dear...

We started the bedroom makeover this weekend. First we moved our bed into the spare bedroom, but left the dressers in there because it was just too much to move it all. So we will be working around those things! Any who, last night we decided to just start touching up the baseboards and trim. Of course that was way too easy! I started to scrape at parts of paint around the windows and quickly noticed the paint was literally peeling off the walls in huge sheets. It was like rubber. I guess that is what happens when you quickly paint a room in cooler weather with cheap low quality paint. It peeled all of the layers of paint off down to the sheet rock! So, looks like we have a little more work to do then we thought. I forgot to take a before picture, but here is a picture of Py peeling the paint off of the wall. More to come! Pray for us!

Summer Redecorating {Dreams}

Py and I have discussed doing some redecorating this summer while I am off from school. So I have been trying to come up with ideas of what I want done. We have decided to focus on our bedroom and the laundry room for now. Unfortunately, because our house is so small teensy, our laundry room also doubles as a mudroom type area because we keep our dogs in there at night and when we are gone. I know, dogs should go outside, but for the time being they are our children and I just don't have the heart (or the fence) to leave them outside. I really just want to put up some shelving, paint the walls, and put in a new floor. Kruz tore up the floor in there when he was a puppy (I mean literally ATE it up) and so now it is just a plywood floor. Here are a few ideas I found on Pinterest:

I love the blue paint and the shelves! It is such a clean look! I love the chandelier as well, but can't really see putting one in the laundry room!

I really love this shelving with the curtain. What a great way to keep it looking sleek and create more storage!

As far as the floor goes, we will probably end up putting in laminate wood flooring. I don't want to spend a lot of flooring since the dogs do stay in there :)

Now for the bedroom, I want a total makeover. The room was originally bright blue when we moved in and we quickly painted it a deep red to match our western type decor. We need a change! I want to make it a room where we want to be. It is very thrown together right now and doesn't really have a "flow", I really want to make it a little paradise for us :) Here are some ideas of what I want:

This is the overall look I want because it very closely resembles our bedroom now. Our bed is between two windows with closets on either side of the bed. I love the color of the ways and the clean look of the room. I want to keep it simple, so I can add and change splashes of color with blankets and throw pillows on the bed to match seasons.  The chandelier is a plus too :)

I am becoming OBSESSED with gallery walls and would do them on every wall of the house if I could! They are so fun. I really want to do one in our bedroom of pictures of us with lovey quotes and what not. I just think it would make the room really personal. So fun!

Eventually, I want to make a quilt for our bed in grey and white, but I need to learn a little more about my sewing machine first! Hey, Rome wasn't built in a day! But for now, I really like the idea of a simple, fluffy white comforter. I like this one and the elegance of it!

We currently do not have a headboard, so I am very anxious to add one to the room. I just can't fathom spending that much money for a headboard! I love this simple antique style headboard. I think it would be easy to to do ourselves if we could find an inexpensive headboard to work with!

Lastly, I am in love with these anniversary pillows! They are so cute and would make a perfect touch to our new room!

Now that I've spilled my dreams, I just hope we cant get started on making them possible! We are supposed to start moving our bedroom into the spare bedroom soon! Eeek! I'll be sure and post before and after pictures!

Pledge to Get Better at This!

I am OBSESSED with "blogstalking" complete strangers blogs and I am now pledging to spend less time stalking others and more time on my own blog. I really want to start using this to document Py and I's marriage and this time in our lives! So here is a pledge to becoming a better blogger! :) I am pretty sure no one will read this, so no worries right?
